Our last Championship event for the 2023-24 season - the Mixed Pairs - was played on Sunday 14th April.

After the Semi Final in the morning with Graeme McTaggart/Judy McKay playing Ro Porter/Con Papastergiou and Tina & Rob Milesi playing Corry Hooiveld/Peter Forbes, it was Papa vs. Milesi in the Grand Final.

Congratulations to Ro Porter & Con Papastergiou for the win.

Congratulations to Glenn Gibson who has just won the 100-up Handicap Singles.

Played Sunday 24th March, starting with the Semi Finals, Glenn drew consistently to oust Gary Wakefield and earn a spot in the Grand Final. Dan Tudor was the other finalist having won against Lauryn Plant in his Semi.

Both players were challenged by the gusty wind and quick green and Dan had to make up the handicap difference of 15. Glenn however prevailed, winning 100-85. Well done.

Sunday 18th February saw our Open Minor Singles Semi Finalists take to the green on a beautiful day for bowling. Marnie Last was up against Ray Casemore and Bernie Convery took on Dragan Jovanovic. With both games scoring 25-16, it was Ray and Bernie who won through. The Grand Final at 1pm proved to be very entertaining for the spectators. Bernie got out to a good start over the first six ends, but Ray fought back and on the thirteenth end scores were tied at 9-9. From there it was even scoring with the lead changing a number of times. It was Bernie who consolidated at the end to take the win. Well done to both.

Our Men's & Women's Veterans Singles were fitted in to finish before the GBR Veteran's Champion of Champion Singles started.

First to play were the Women, with Corry Hooiveld winning over Angela Clarke.

Finishing with the Men's Final, played Sunday 28th January with Geoff Grigg playing Paul French. After good bowling by both, it was Geoff who got to 21 to take the game.

Corry as our Women's Veterans winner will play in the GBR CofC Veterans Singles, starting Wednesday 31st January at 10am which will be hosted by Torquay BC.

Geoff will also play Wednesday 31st January at 10am at Point Lonsdale BC.

Good luck to both.

After some delay in trying to find an available date, the Women's Pairs Grand Final was played on Sunday 21st January.

The pair of Jen Gaudion & Shani Hill were in the wings waiting for the final after receiving a walkover in the previous round.

The morning game was the Semi Final with Karen Wiener & Kas Harrington against Marnie Last & Simone McEwan. This proved to be an entertaining game for the spectators with scores locked at 13 - 13 after the required 15 ends. An extra end saw the shot being held by alternate teams, with the Karens holding 2 shots before Simone's last bowl, who managed to get one in to take the shot. The last bowl of the match was Kas' who ran at the head, managing to thread through a narrow path to the shot bowl, winning the game 15 - 13.

The Grand Final in the afternoon saw good bowling by both teams, but it was the more experienced Karens who took the win. Congratulations.

The other Semi was Effie Wake skipping Mick Wake and Noel Kelson against Ange Uebergang, Ron Sommerville and Peter Anderson skip. It was Tim Humphries and Effie Wake who won through with convincing wins.

In the Grand Final congratulations go to the Peter Anderson team, winning 16-10.

The Men's and Women's Club Singles Champions for 2023-2024 are Josh Rudd and Karen Harrington.

The two finals were played alongside each other on Friday 15th December 2023 with many club members & visitors watching. Both games were competitive but it was Josh, playing Russell Symons and Karen, playing Ro Porter who pulled away after close scoring to win the titles.

They will now go on to play in the Geelong Region Bowls' Champion of Champions event starting 11th February. Good luck to them both.

The first Championship game to be completed for this seasons was the Men's Club Pairs. The Final between Joe Issell/Josh Rudd and Glenn Gibson/Bernie Convery was played on Friday afternoon 3rd November, 2023. Watched by a number of club members, all players contributed but it was the Joe/Josh combination who prevailed after a close game, winning 17/13.
