Torquay Bowls Club named as a finalist in Bowls Australia Awards: Club of the Year
Update: The 2016 Awards Night was held on Thursday, October 27 at Mantra Legends, Surfers Paradise. Four Torquay Bowls club members attended the night, representing us as one of the four club finalists from all the clubs nominated throughout Australia. The award went to joint winners - Club Helensvale; a heavyweight club on the Gold Coast which has been host to many state, national and international events, and - Manning Memorial Bowls Club in WA; a smaller club with strong community ties. Congratulations to them and the other contender, Southport Bowls Club (Qld). Torquay Bowls Club can be proud of its nomination & being a grand finalist in such company.
Torquay was nominated for Bowls Australia's Club of the Year award. A comprehensive report was submitted speaking to the various required criteria, including program initiatives, governance, bowls growth and community involvement.
Bowls Australia have today unveiled the list of finalists for the 12 categories on offer at the 2016 Awards Night, which recognises the sport’s most outstanding athletes, administrators, clubs and media coverage.
Torquay Bowls Club is thrilled to be included in the finalists for Stockland Club of the Year.
Queensland’s Club Helensvale will feature prominently on the night, named as one of the finalists in the newly introduced award, capping an outstanding year in which the club hosted the Australian Open and the World Champion of Champion Singles events.
Joining them as finalist clubs from an impressive 18 nominated clubs are two of the flagship success stories from the inaugural year of Jack Attack, Southport Bowls Club (QLD) and Manning Memorial Bowls Club (WA) as well as one of Victoria’s most progressive clubs, Torquay Bowls Club.
