Torquay's Kaye Robison joined with Clayton's premier pennant player, Winston Brackley, in the Victorian Open Mixed Pairs, being played at Shepparton this week. In a field of 56 pairs, they won through the first round of sectional play with 2 wins & 1 loss, beating a local Shepparton Park pair by shots up. Their first knockout round was a Bye, but they had a convincing win of 18-5 in the second knockout round against another local, Diane Hands with Matthew Robertson. Getting through to the last 16, Winston & Kaye had an 18-14 win over "Gail from Sale" McKenzie and Dancing Frank Watson from Shepparton Park. From there, in the last 8, they just got over the line with a 15-14 win over Chloe Stewart from Kyneton (who is in the last 8 of the Women's Singles) and her partner Nathan Wilson from Essendon (who is playing in the Grand Final of the Men's Singles). Down to the semi-final, they played Lisa Phillips and Nick McIntyre and had another close game. On the last end they were holding a game winning 2 shots, before Nick drove their bowls out for the win. Well done on their equal third placing.
