Suzanne (2nd), Joan (skip), Lorraine (Lead), Karen (3rd)
Earlier this week Suzanne Lund and Karen Harrington with team mates Joan Tennent and Lorraine Myers (from Ocean Grove), travelled to Bendigo East Bowls Club to play in the BV State Championship Week in the Women's Fours, having previously won the title in the GBR region. The week of bowls, starting on Saturday 18th April through to Friday 24th, saw Victoria's 16 region winners for both Men & Women compete for the State title in Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours, Mixed Pairs and the Champion of Champions Singles. Suzanne & Karen's team played on Sunday, playing 18 end games, starting with a 21-16 win over the Kerang Golf BC team representing Murray-Mallee. In the afternoon quarter final game, they were in fine form with a convincing win against the Central Goulburn team from Shepparton Park BC-who had themselves had a runaway win in the first round. The semi final for the last 4 teams remaining was scheduled to be played the next day on Monday, however due to a clash for a player in multiple events, the match was brought forward to Sunday night, under lights. This third game of the day with the changed conditions unfortunately saw our girls struggle and they were defeated by the Eastern Ranges team from Glen Waverley BC. Congratulations however for an equal third place in Victoria, which was one of the best result of the Geelong Region representatives for the week. (The other was a Silver won by Lorraine Myers and Joan Tennent in the pairs). Post: 25 Apr 2015
